Thought Disorders in Psychotic Patients

Abstract
For the purpose of comparing thought disturbances in psychotic and neurotic patients, Rorschach responses of 32 psychotic patients and the same number of the neurotics were assessed with the TDI (Thought Disorder Index) of Johnston and Holzman. Results wei e found that the psychotics gave significantly higher scores on almost all of the thought disorder categories as well as Delta index compared with the neurotics, suggesting more thought disturbances for the psychotics in qualitative and quantitative terms.
In particular, more confabulation, autistic logic, absurd responses, contamination, and peculiar responses were found in psychotic patient¢¥s Rorschach while the neurotics gave less disturbed responses in general although confabulation and tendency to confabulation were also found among some of them.
